PRINCIPAL DENTIST

I qualified at Newcastle University in 1990 and have worked at Auckland Dental Practice since 1991, becoming a partner in 1996. I gained the MFDGP(UK) post -graduate qualification in 2002 and trained newly qualified dentists between 1999 and 2002. I am a member of the British Dental Association, the  Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and Denplan and I love keeping up to date by attending courses and reading journals. Most recently I completed Higher Skills training modules 1 and 2 in Endodontics (root fillings) at Newcastle University and completed a four day course in periodontology (gum disease) at The Royal College of Surgeons in London.

My interests extend to all aspects of dental care and I believe that prevention is better than cure. I enjoy working in partnership with patients to prevent oral disease and helping people to overcome their dental anxieties. I believe that when working with nervous adults and children, this involves allowing them all the time, patience and explanations that they need.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and children.

PRINCIPAL DENTIST

I began working at Auckland Dental Practice in 1991 having qualified at Newcastle University in 1990. Alison Skipsey and I took over the practice in 1996. I was a vocational trainer for four years and am a member of FGDP and Denplan.

I believe in the philosophy of long- term care; considering how best to treat or even better, prevent dental problems looking a long way into the future rather than the next few months or years.

Cosmetic Dentistry and Endodontics are areas that I am particularly interested in. I have completed the Higher Skills training modules 1 and 2 in endodontics at Newcastle University.

When away from work, I am a keen hill walker and mountain biker, although my wife and I can often be found supporting our son play rugby, rowing or taking part in some other sporting event.

ASSOCIATE DENTIST

After graduating in 2002 I came straight to Auckland Dental Practice for my training year and then stayed on as an associate having enjoyed the work ethics of the practice, owners and the friendliness of the patients and staff.

Over the years I have attended many restorative dentistry courses in order to provide the most suitable and up to date treatment available for my patients.

I have completed the prestigious Paul Tipton Restorative Dentistry and Tooth Preparation courses. I also completed the Higher Skills Training Modules 1 and 2 in Endodontics at Newcastle University.

In my spare time I enjoy the outdoor life and love to get away and experience new places as much as possible.

I have enjoyed working with the team at Auckland Dental Practice for 10 years now and have come to know my regular patients very well.  My job involves support with caring for your gum health in the prevention of periodontal  (gum) disease.

I work on Tuesdays and it is now possible to make an appointment with me without seeing the dentist first.
